ROVs are Underwater remotely operated vehicles. They are like submarines, meaning that they can travel in many motions (forwards, backwards and side to side) underwater however, they are controlled by remotes. ROVs let us explore the ocean without even getting wet. ROV's were first developed for industrial uses including the examination of underwater platforms, pipes and the underwater structure of jetties. However, now, with an advance in technology, we can use ROV's for underwater exploration, coral viewing and even livestreaming events that are occurring underwater. By using ROV's for purposes like this, we can eliminate the unnatural human presence in the water, while keeping us safe. ROV's come in all shapes and sizes, all fit for many different purposes.
